Hearing Aid Fitting

Hearing aid fitting is a critical part of your success with hearing aids, and it strongly attributes to the comfort and sound quality you experience. Hearing aids work extremely well when they are fitted to your ears and adjusted for your hearing needs and preferences.

  • First our hearing professionals will check that your hearing aids are physically comfortable, and that there is no unintended gaps around the instruments. After you hearing professional is confident the fit is proper they will begin to program it to your exact hearing loss.
  • We will program your new hearing aids based on the results of your hearing test and your individual preferences and unique listening environments. We can fine tune your hearing instruments to help you hear in a variety of situations including restaurants, crowds, a room with a tv centered and many other difficult listening situations. Hearing is subjective, so even someone with the same hearing loss as you may prefer to have their hearing aids programmed differently.

Getting Used to Your Hearing Aids

It takes time

It takes time to adjust to hearing aids. In general, the greater the hearing loss and the longer the hearing loss has been present, the more challenging the transition to using hearing aids. We’ve had patients that needed only a few days to get used to their new hearing aids, but most need a few weeks to a few months.

Be realistic

Be realistic. Hearing loss typically develops over many years. Becoming reacquainted with sounds while using hearing aids will take practice and time. It is important not to become disillusioned or frustrated while your brain adjusts to the new sounds provided by your hearing instruments. The time you spend adjusting to your new hearing aids is well worth it.

Be patient

There is no perfect way to learn how to adjust to hearing aids. Try to be patient with yourself, and return to our office for further adjustments or consultation if needed. We’re here to help you through this process.

Why wait , You don’t have to live with hearing loss.

Wear the aids as much as possible

Take notes

Write down the situations where you feel your aren’t hearing your best, that way, we can re-program the devices to work better in that specific situation.

Be patient
